Fanfiction, updates and essays

Hi!

I haven't updated in 4 weeks and while I'm on a break from my continuous, never ending reading for my up coming essays I decided to post something.

So, what's happened in the last few weeks?  Well, I'm next years SFX secretary and Anime Soc's treasurer.  I've started writing fanfiction.  I attended geekfest as River Tam.  Geekfest is a huge social between SFX, Anime and the Adventure gaming society.  Which reminds me, I'm part of a Soul Eater RPG.  I'm a weapon with a split personality and have a vendetta against witches however, my meister just happens to be one.  The group will probably tear each other apart eventually anyway as there's also a werewolf in our midst and a character that has a prejudice against werewolfs as well as some one with a vendetta against them too.

Now that I'm kinda up to date news wise I also posted two more pieces on fictionpress.  One angel story and a short sci-fi piece that just poped into my head.

Also I have two essays to write in the next two weeks, but I hope to start one either tomorrow or Monday so I don't know when I will update.  May be not until the Summer now as I have my exam term coming up.

Good luck to everyone and I'll try and post soon.

General update

I feel like I haven't updated in ages and when I checked it was almost three weeks.  So I decided I should write about major happenings.

I am now secretary-elected for sfx.  So basically next year I wil be the sfx soc's secretary yay!  My friend scooped techie!

I have a house for next year!  I'm sharing with three other girls on the same course as me, and we will all hopefully go to Japan next Septenmber for a whole year.  (I'm kind of excited, yet nervous).  The house is actually rather charming.  We keep saying it has character.  It's this little Victorian terrace, right on the main road, so it may be kind of noisy but it's quaint and as a tv with freesat thrown in.  I'll finally be more up to date with the outside world and I can hook up my ps2 and play Kingdom hearts and ff7, which I am sorely missing (although I haven't actually started ff7 yet...shh! Don't tell anyone).

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I am currently playing 4 on nintendo ds, something I recently purchased to stave off the boredom. It works when I have time, which I have precious little of as its like mid-term essay writing.  I ave a philosophy essay due in next week and computing due the week after.  I still haven't gotten my mark for the last lot yet.

Moving on, last week I finished a really good novel by Xiaolu Guo called "20 fragements of a ravenous youth."  It's all about this young girl named Fenfang and her life trying to become an actress in Beijing, having moved there from the countryside.  I guess, I'd describe it as a coming of age/journey through life.  I really did emphasise with the character in places.  It's well worth reading.  I just spotted it in Waterstones, read the back and had to buy it.

Also my parents bought me tons of books and dvds when they saw me this weekend.  It meant I also got the two cds I have been waiting ages for 'Zerospace' by the Kidneythieves and 'Chaotic Resolve' by Plumb.  They're both really good but completely different genres.  I've been listening to Plumb most of yesterday and today.  Last week it was The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus who are also fantastic.

They also bought me ff 3 for ds, but I asked them to leave KH: Chain of memories at home as I haven't finished KH yet and can't play it right now *sob.*  I probably won't be able to do anymore till the summer. I have just Halloween Town and Neverland left, I think, plus a few tasks on the different worlds.  On the topic of KH and FF I also got them to bring Clous, as I purchased Squall earlier this month.  I don't think Mum is too happy about me wasting money on 'lumps of plastic' as she refers to them.

Finally, I updated my fictionpress once, if not twice since my last entery.  Soon, though the Angel pieces will be over and then I shall begin to post a longer piece, which I'm just editing and writing the final part to.  Then I can work on finishing another piece, which probably falls into fantasy.  I also plan to try my hand at some KH fanfiction, although the characters are not being very co-operative at the moment.

Wow, this is really long.

I just want to finish by saying hello to everyone I know and don't know who reads this, if anyone does.

Snow

It is kind of rare we ever get snow in England, but it is snowing today!  And not just a little bit.  I mean big, proper snowflakes.  It's meant to snow for the next two days.

I'm just thinking I actually have to go to class in it.  I'm going to have to wrap up warm.

Back at Uni

So here I am, back at Uni.  I'm desperately trying to get this website done, but one page just won't link!  It won't display my family tree and it's getting really annoying.

I'm just checking out all the links work, and so far so good. *crosses fingers*

So I've been here since Saturday.  I caught up with one friend on Saturday and had a "girly night" and on Sunday I spent all day with another friend.  We went into town and I bought yet another action figure, this time Squall, to go with Cloud and the two Yuffies (don't ask).

Then last night I went out with some friends to the Foundry where it was goth night.  It was so cool.  I still have the red tick on my hand (hehe).  Me and my friend pitted armies against one another.  She started with chip monks, whilst I started with gophers.

Anyway back to work.  Grrr, I really want to get this finished today.

And I'm really sorry, but I haven't updated my fictionpress since before Christmas but I promise to get round to it. Really....

first review

I got my first review on fictionpress today!  I'm so happy.  Since, it wasn't one of my favourite pieces, I was really glad someone liked it.

I'm also going home today.  Just spoke to my Dad and he's stuck in traffic, so I have taken to trying to load up some episodes of Soul Eater, but its slow going.

Well Merry Christmas!

I know its early but I thought I would wish everyone a "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" now as I will probably not get time over Christmas, as I am going to be spending it in Italy.  We are staying in Monte Catini and visting Florence.  I will try and put some photos up when I get back.

Two more things.  I now have facebook.  I have always said I would never get one, but my friend persuaded me and I must say its a good way to keep in contact with people.

Also I have put a new story up on fictionpress.  Yet another Angel one if anyone is interested.

Well, a fun festive season to all.  The title of the post means "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" in Japanese, which I thought was appropriate as I am actually learning the language, because my course has a year in Japan.

Love to all!

I go home tomorrow.  Yay!

Panto Season

Today was awesome.  It was the first time I was able to go to a pantomime.  I went with my American friend, as she had never been before.  It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.  I even started to get into it.

Afterwards I went shopping and gt some bits for Monday when we will be having a small Christmas party.  I can't wait.

Now all I have to do is get all my work out the way.  Oh well, on with the essays. hehe

Cloud

Moment? of Insanity

So today I actually got to go off campus, somewhere other than into Canterbury.

My friend had a Japanese exam so me, and two other friends went with her.  Our first stop was Picadilly and the Japan Centre, which is this moderately sized shop.  The top floor sells food and kitchen stuff, whilst downstairs there's manga (in japanese) and gifts.  I think I lost the plot slightly and spent a good fifteen pounds, if not more, on pocky.  I got two types of strawberry, milk, chocolate and almond and orange, as well as strawberry picola.  I also bought these really cool chopsticks, which came with a case.

Then we went to Forbidden Planet where I bought a Cloud figure, only to go back several hours later to purchase Yuffie as well.  My Dad laughed at me when I spoke to him.

Today was also the first time I had coffee at a Starbucks (technically it was an iced drink, but still...). It wasn't actually as bad as I thought it might be.

I still have essays to write but they will be done by the end of the week, I swear...

Writer's Block: Gone but Not Forgotten

Many beloved television shows are no longer with us, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. What defunct television show do you miss the most?

I think I agree with quite a few, definitely Firefly.  I really got into that show.  It would have been nice to see whether Mal and Inara got together in the end.

I got favourited!

So, I'm an avid writer, to the point I have an ever growing collection of short angel stories.  I found fictionpress.com a while ago and since I one day hope to be published I decided to set up an account about a month ago.

Anyway, I began to put up some of my angel work.  Today however, my third post 'Fallen' got favourited, and I've been bouncing about ever since.  I really can't quite believe it.

If you want to check my work out you can find my profile at http://www.fictionpress.com/~clumsyangelosingsleep. Hope you enjoy them.

Successful Thanksgiving/ Christmas Shopping

Ok.  Thanksgiving was a huge success.  Both my friends deserve huge hugs.  It took six hours to bake the cookies alone, there were that many!  We, well they, had turkey, stuffing, which I made (admittedly it was from a packet), mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, a veg platter, a fruit platter, bread, three deserts and lots of cookies.  Then we (5 of us) went to watch Hellsing Ultimate, which was soo cool!

The next day, our cleaner, bless her, tidied up our mess of a kitchen.  She even did the washing up.

This weekend I went Christmas shopping, and if the thought ever even crosses my mind to do it all in one go again, please stop me.  I went out nice and early, got very wet (so did the gift bags).  Then got back and realised I had actually forgotten rather a lot of items, so ended up going back out again.  Luckily, I think I'm just about done.  I still need a few bits and pieces for my family, I want to be able to give them something while we are away.  We're going to Italy.

Oh, and I had a moment of insanity and ended up in x-games, where I bought final fantasy 7 for a rather large amount of money.

Anyway, I'm going home soon for Christmas and I can't wait since I haven't been home in about 3 months.  I just have to get my work done and wrap presents.  I'm not kidding my room looks like Santa's grotto!

English Thanksgiving/ Blade Runner

So it's Thanksgiving this Thursday.  I've always wondered what it would be like to celebrate Thanksgiving, and how it was actually celebrated.  This year our flat is actually having an 'English Thanksgiving.'  I've made really good friends with an American, and together with her boyfriend we are making Thanksgiving dinner for the rest of my flatmates and a small group of friends.  Yesterday we went out and got all the ingredients and food we would need, and consquently I have six packs of turkey breasts residing in my fridge (it's a little ironic really considering I'm the ony vegetarian), oh and there's a pineapple and watermelon on top of my wardrobe, which her boyfriend has developed a strange attachment to.  Anyway its going to be lots of fun, then we are off to watch hellsing at Anime Soc.

After we did all this shopping that took over two hours and three of us to lug back, on the bus, to campus we had dinner and watched some movies.  First we watched Advents Children, which she'd never seen.  We now swear poor Cloud is an emo, although he does cheer up towards the end (we went as far as to discuss whether he should have been called 'overcast' instead).  Please rest assured we really do like Cloud, he's really very cute.  Then we watched Blade Runner (The directors cut) and I only just got the last little bit at the end with the unicorn.  I still maintain Roy Batty's last lines are the best I have ever heard.

Its going to be a busy week, I have an essay due in on Thursday about Roland Barthes Myth, and it is driving me crackers.  Only another 900 or so words to go. *sigh*

Denno Coil/ Dennou Coil

I just got back from anime soc, and I can't wait for next week.  We'll be watching the last three episodes of Dennou Coil.  If you haven't seen the show its set in 2026 in a world where everyone wears glasses, which enable them to see AR and interact with it.  It starts with Yuko and her sister, Kyoko moving to Daikoku.  It begins quite innocently, but gets really dark really quickly.  It's got really good in the last few episodes.  I felt really sorry though for one of the characters, Amasawa.  I practically welled up this week.  She's really alone and she's been betrayed by everyone and lied to.

We watch the last three episodes next week, and I can't wait to see how it ends.

I guess in a way I just ask.  Although, I do wish on stray eyelashes a lot, at least I used to.

First Post

So, I've been thinking about getting a live journal for a while.  Well, since I started Uni, so like two months or so.  I know everyone has facebook, but I just thought this might be better for me, as I like to write and it seems a lot of writers use livejournal.
This is going to be a bit of a rant I think, so I apologise in advance.

I got invited to go to the pirate society tonight, and it was a really good night.  I just kind of felt out of place.  I guess I'm quite a quiet person.  I don't mind social gatherings, but everyone there was just really loud and yelling 'gar!' made me feel kind of self-conscious.  I think the problem maybe I'm still trying to find myself.  Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy myself and I have some really great friends, I'm still just trying to find my feet.
I'm going to bed now, as I have lectures tomorrow at ten and I need sleep!

Also just realised I'm now nineteen and two months! grr-argh!
